Cheers to Ideas is a community-driven initiative that supports creative placemaking ideas to make Warrnambool more vibrant, engaging, and fun. If you’ve got a clever idea to enhance a public space, now’s your chance to bring it to life!
What is Placemaking?
Placemaking is all about transforming public spaces into lively, welcoming places that encourage connection, support local businesses, and strengthen community pride.
Whether it's an art installation, pop-up event, interactive space—or something entirely new—placemaking helps create a unique identity that reflects the people of Warrnambool.
How It Works
- Submit Your Idea
Individuals or groups can submit their placemaking idea by completing the online form below. - Selection Process
• WCC will first review all submissions to ensure they comply with local regulations.
• An external panel will then assess the eligible ideas and select three finalists based on creativity and community impact. - Public Voting
The three finalists ideas will be showcased on social media and open to public voting online for one week. - Funding Award
The idea with the most votes will receive prize money—up to $2,500, depending on the project’s budget and scope.
Who Can Apply?
Anyone! If your idea is to be implemented within the Warrnambool LGA, you are eligible to apply. This includes:
- Residents
- Business owners
- Community groups
- Sporting clubs
- Local organisations
Criteria for Ideas
- Must be community-driven and benefit the wider public
- Cannot be for personal or commercial profit
- Should enhance the engagement, vibrancy, or functionality of a public space
