What
A communication board to provide access to functional communication for people of all ages accessing our local playground. The communication board will raise awareness and support acceptance of alternative modes of communication through visibiluty and sparking conversation about the many ways we communicate.
Where
The communication board is a permanent structure that will be placed at the recently redeveloped Lake Pertobe Playground and will be available to everyone using the space on an ongoing basis.
Why
To ensure everyone can access and participate in play by supporting inclusive communication, increasing awareness of different ways people express themselves and fostering a more welcoming, understanding community.
How
Through partnerships with local businesses and communication board developers, we will design, create and implement the communication board.
Southern Coast Song Challenge

What
The Southern Coast Song Challenge is a creative event where writers and musicians come together to create and perform original pieces up to three minutes long, based on a theme connected to the Southwest coast.
Where
The event is held across venues or outdoor spaces along the Southwest coast, making use of local settings to showcase performances.
Why
The event aims to celebrate local talent, encourage creativity inspired by the region and provide a fun and challenging opportunity for artists to share their work with the community.
How
Participants are given a theme or word and a limited time to create an original song or spoken word performance, which they then present to an audience, with winners chosen through both a People's choice and a judging panel.

What
The proposal outlines a one-day women's wellbeing and community festival in Warrnambool focused on connection, creativity and belonging. It will bring together local facilitators, artists, musicians, stallholders and wellness practitioners, featuring workshops, movement, live music, storytelling, markets and a Healing Haven offering affordable support services.
Where
Potential locations include the Warrnambool Community Garden, Lake Pertobe or the Cricket ground and clubrooms, allowing for both indoor and outdoor activation spaces. At its core, this festival aims to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive space where women can connect, recharge, support local business and strengthen community ties within the Warrnambool region.
Why/ How
A strong focus of the event is supporting local businesses and community participation by prioritising local vendors, practitioners and creatives wherever possible. The event is expected to attract approximately 500-800 women across the day, creating both social and economic benefits for the region.
