Warrnambool with be a hive of activity this weekend with four major events drawing thousands of visitors to the city and providing lots for locals to see and do.
Over the Labour Day weekend the city will host the Life Saving Victoria Senior Championship, the Warrnambool Lawn Open, the Warrnambool Seaside Volleyball Tournament and a new addition to the March long weekend calendar: the Warrnambool Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show.
Warrnambool Deputy Mayor Cr Vicki Jellie said she was looking forward to a busy weekend for the city.
“It’s going to be a great long weekend with people coming from everywhere for a variety of events… there’s lots of things happening,” she said.
“It’s not only great for the city for the sporting aspect and the social aspect, it’s great for our accommodation, restaurants, shops and everything that goes along with that.
“For the clubs and groups that put on these events that draw the people from everywhere, it’s great for the volunteers that do it, and they wouldn’t run without those volunteers.
“The weather’s going to be great for the weekend, so get down and have a look.”
The Life Saving Victoria Senior Championship is on Friday March 7 – Sunday March 9 at the Warrnambool main beach.
Warrnambool Seaside Volleyball Tournament is on Saturday March 8 – Monday March 10 at Val Bertrand Stadium, Warrnambool Stadium, Emmanuel College, Brauer College and St John’s Primary School.
The Warrnambool Lawn Open is on Saturday March 8 – Monday March 10 at the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club.
The Warrnambool Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show is on Saturday March 8 – Sunday March 9 at the Wannon Room, Warrnambool Showgrounds.
