Usage considerations:
- Casual hire requests will need to consider the type of oval activity required, some restrictions may apply from March to October inclusive due to the turf wicket. Access for football practice matches during March (annually) is restricted until completion of the cricket season.
- Requests for hire of the social club rooms are managed directly through Merrivale Football Netball Club (April – September). Merrivale Cricket Club (October – March).

Merrivale Recreation Reserve has facilities for football, netball and cricket. Social clubrooms and change rooms pavilion, as well as netball change rooms. The Merrivale Football Netball Club and Merrivale Cricket Club participate in the Warrnambool District Football Netball League (WDFNL) and Warrnambool District Cricket Association (WDCA) respectively.
