Warrnambool | A City for Living

Industrial estate footpath

Work started in late March 2026 on the Warrnambool City Council’s largest new footpath project in at least 20 years.

Approximately 1.7km of new footpaths will link Merrivale Drive with McMeekin Road, Albert Street and Braithwaite Street in the Warrnambool Industrial Estate.

The project will greatly improve safety for people walking in the area, and hopefully encourage more people to consider walking to work or to visit businesses in the industrial estate.

The project was identified in the Principal Pedestrian Network Plan (PPN).

This plan identifies the missing linkages in the City's footpath network that could prevent people from walking to get to where they want to go, whether that's work, school, or the shops.

Over 300 people helped to shape the PPN.

The new footpath is a $534,000 project and is being jointly funded by Council and the Australian Government via the Active Transport Fund.

Construction is expected to be complete by the end of June.

Minimal road traffic changes are anticipated while construction is under way, with everyone asked to follow all signage.
