After Council successfully found a buyer for the saleyards roof earlier this year, the buyer’s contractors arrived on-site this week to begin dismantling the structure. This is expected to take approximately four weeks.
Following an expression of interest process, the roof and supporting structure were sold to Konongwootong Partnership for $27,500. The cost to safely dismantle and transport the roof would likely exceed $100,000 and this cost is reflected in the price received.
The decommissioning and remediation of the site continues, with plans to rezone this land well underway. This is proposed to be a mix of residential, recreation and commercial zoned land, with future usage still to be determined.
