Our new Director Community Development

Warrnambool City Council has appointed a new director of its Community Development directorate.

Brooke Love, currently Director Works and Services at Corangamite Shire, will start at Warrnambool in early February.

Community Development is a large directorate which provides a diverse range of services and includes kindergartens, childcare, sport, recreation, home support, community planning and culture.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Brooke to the team,” Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mason said.

“Brooke has a strong record of delivering projects and is adept at working with communities and large teams.”

Over the past 18 years at Corangamite Shire Ms Love has been involved in managing capitals works projects, council facilities and recreation and community programs.
Ms Love said she was excited to be joining Warrnambool City Council.

“Returning to Warrnambool feels like closing the loop in a way,” she said.

 “I’m looking forward to meeting the Community Development team and working collaboratively to deliver the actions in the Council Plan.

“I’m also keen to meet and work with Councillors and the leadership team.

“We have some major strategic projects under consideration including future options for AquaZone, the work at Brierly Reserve and improving kindergarten and childcare facilities.

“And there are the early years and aged care reforms too which I know the team is working through with staff, clients and the community. 

“It’s a really exciting time and the focus will be on making sure our services meet the needs of our growing population and their expectations.”
