If you would like to hold an event or activity on Council-managed public space you will need to let Council know through our open space booking system.
An open space booking covers activities such as weddings, music events, fitness classes, fundraisers, markets or large group or club gatherings.
For low-impact community-based activities there is usually no fee for using a public space. This applies to small gatherings that do not require extensive infrastructure or formal approvals.
If an activity or event is large in scale, occurs on a regular basis or is commercial in nature, a fee will apply.
To enquire about making an open space booking application, please call Council on 5559 4800.
Event booking
Depending on the scale of an activity, Council may determine that a proposed use of open space is an "event".
An event booking is required for organised activities that involve temporary infrastructure, traffic management, food vendors, liquor licensing or other elements that may impact public space or services.
Examples include:
• festivals or concerts;
• running or cycling events with hundreds of participants; and
• car shows
If you’re unsure if your activity fits into the event category, please call Council and if required a member of Council's Events and Promotions team will be in touch to discuss your application.
