Lachie Kerr, Lenny Chiller and Peggy Chiller will be following in their older siblings’ footsteps as they prepare to compete in the Life Saving Victoria Junior State Championships this long weekend.
While older brothers Will Kerr and Harrison Chiller are too old to compete at the Junior Championships this year, they will be flying the flag for Warrnambool and Victoria at the National Championships in Queensland later this month.
And to help them on their way, both Will and Harrison have been awarded a $300 Council grant via our Individual or Group Assistance Fund. These grants are open year round for athletes competing in national or international competitions.
Funding for national competitions is up to $300 for an individual and up to $500 for a team.
Funding for international competitions is up to $700 for an individual or up to $1,000 for a team.
You can find out more about these grants on our website: https://www.warrnambool.vic.gov.au/assistance-individuals-or-groups
The Life Saving Victoria Junior State Championships are part of a bumper weekend of sport in Warrnambool, with the Annual Seaside Volleyball Tournament and the Warrnambool Lawn Open also being held.
All three events encourage people to get active, while bringing thousands of people to the city, and we are very proud supporters of them.
None of these events would be possible without an army of local volunteers, so a very big thank you to everyone involved!
Spectators are welcome at all events.
