Market stalls will line Liebig Street on Friday as part of a host of activities to launch the Christmas season in Warrnambool.
The markets will run from 3.30pm until 7.30pm, with many retailers also open late.
For the kids, there will be a balloon artist, a “sparkle station”, face painting and roving entertainment.
Anyone who spends $30 at a Warrnambool business on the day can also spin a wheel for a chance to win a prize (some exclusions and T&Cs apply).
The Warrnambool & District Community Hospice Gift Wrapping Station will also be set up.
Live music will be from Michael Honan, Mick Hughes, Amelia Jordyn, Esther Tanner and the Warrnambool Ukulele Group.
Warrnambool Mayor Cr Ben Blain invited everyone to join the festivities.
“We’re officially launching Christmas in Warrnambool on November 29,” he said.
“Come and soak up the festive atmosphere and tick some items off your Christmas shopping list.
“Over the past few years, Black Friday has joined Boxing Day as one of the biggest days for shopping so we’re building on this to create a fun evening with lots to see and do in the Warrnambool City Centre.”
Cr Blain said that this was the first of a series of activities in the CBD organised by Council in the lead up to Christmas.
“On Saturday the Flying Flamingos aerial acrobats will perform on the Civic Green, and they will also be hosting interactive workshops. There’s also more live music and face painting.
“Then on other weekends before Christmas there will be poi twirling, visits from Santa, a fairy show on the Civic Green and lots more.
“Plus the Christmas projections on CBD buildings will be back with some new animations I’m sure everyone will love!”
