Cr Vicki Jellie has been elected Mayor of Warrnambool for the second time.

Following Cr Richard Ziegeler's decision to step down as Mayor due to health and family reasons, an election was held to determine a new Mayor for the remainder of the current Mayoral Term.

Cr Jellie will serve as Mayor until October, with the annual Mayoral election to be held as usual.

"I’m honoured to once again accept the decision of my colleagues to fill the role as Mayor," Cr Jellie said.

"Thank you to Cr Ziegeler for his service over the past five months. I would like to acknowledge Cr Ziegeler’s engagement and ongoing commitment to the citizens of Warrnambool.

"My aim is to provide leadership in pursuing the objectives in the Council Plan and other strategic priorities which will guide the growth of our city.

"It is teamwork that will be of most use to our community.

"I will undertake on every occasion to carry out my duties with integrity and in the best interests of the community."
