The premiere of the Warrnambool City Council’s new outdoor cinema screen is set for this week, with Christmas movies to be screened on the Civic Green.
On Thursday December 21 The Polar Express (G) will screen at 12pm followed by Fred Claus (PG) at 2pm.
Then on Friday December 22 How The Grinch Stole Christmas (PG) will screen at 11am followed by Elf (G) at 1pm.
All movies are free to attend with no bookings required.
Warrnambool Mayor Ben Blain said that Council was able to fund the screen via the Victorian Government’s COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund, the same fund used to purchase the projectors currently beaming Christmas imagery onto CBD buildings.
“We’ve been able to use this funding to invest in really versatile pieces of equipment that we will get a lot of use out of for years to come,” he said.
“Staff completed the final tests of the new outdoor screen last week, so we thought ‘why not put it to use straight away and play some Christmas movies?’”
“Christmas movies are one of the best ways to get into the spirit of the season, and we’re really happy to be able to hold these screenings and invite everyone to come along and join the fun.
“The weather forecast looks good, so bring your picnic rug or camping chairs and settle in on the Civic Green for a classic Christmas movie on the big screen.”
