Warrnambool currently has one of the highest childhood immunisation rates within Australia. Council conducts free immunisations for infants and school aged children as listed on the National Immunisation Program Schedule.
As a free public health service, Council is unable to facilitate requests to alter the National Immunisation Program schedule. Individuals wishing to administer vaccines outside of the recommendations will need to consult with their own doctor for advice and administration of vaccines.
Childhood Flu Program 2026
The Childhood Flu Program began in April.
Children aged 6 months to under 5 years are eligible for free flu vaccine as part of the National Immunisation Program.

Children aged 5 years and over can access the flu vaccine through the Council (fee applies), GP clinic or pharmacy.
Children's immunisation clinics
Council's Immunisation clinic is located at the Council's Immunisation Centre, Bayside City Plaza, Shop 14, 24-36 Fairy St Warrnambool.
Thursday clinic hours 9am - 4pm.
Tuesday evening clinic hours 4pm - 6.30pm.
You can book an appointment online using the Department of Health, Victoria Central Immunisation Records Portal (CIRV)
First time users will need to create an account with CIRV. Before commencing make sure you have access to the following:
- Email address
- Access to your email
- Medicare Card (if you have one)
Once you have access click on:
Book a Community Immunisation Appointment, then in the Immunisation Provider field scroll down to select Warrnambool City Council and complete all mandatory fields.
- Bring your Medicare card and your child's Health Record book to all clinics.
- Immunisation is also available by appointment with your doctor (a consultation fee may apply).
- All persons being immunised are requested to stay for a 15 minute observation period following vaccination.
Childhood immunisations
Childhood immunisations are scheduled at the following ages:
- Birth
- 2 months (can be given from 6 weeks)
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 12 months
- 18 months
- 4 years
School immunisation
Students in secondary school are eligible for the following vaccines in 2026:
Year 7 students:
- a single dose of Human Papillomavirus
- a single dose of Diphtheria/Tetanus /Pertussis (whooping cough)
Year 10 students:
- single dose of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine

The Warrnambool City Council’s Immunisation Unit can provide records for individuals that have been immunised through its program. Fees apply.

The Council is not able to provide records of immunisations given by Doctors or other providers.
Immunisation records are also available through Medicare by visiting mygov.au or via the Express Plus mobile app. Alternatively you can contact the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) on 1800 653 809 to arrange for an Immunisation History Statement to be sent via the mail.
Unfunded vaccines
There are vaccines available for private purchase that are not on the National Immunisation Program (Government funded program), but are recommended by vaccine experts.
These additional vaccines can be purchased and administered by Council.
Meningococcal B - This vaccine provides protection against the B strain of Meningococcal disease.
Meningococcal B vaccine is available to purchase from Council. Price $155

Chickenpox (Varicella) - One dose of chickenpox is provided free on the Government program to all children 18 months of age.
Research shows that 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine in children provides increased protection and reduces the risk of chickenpox occurring at a later time.
A privately purchased dose of chickenpox vaccine can be given any time from 12 months of age. This vaccine is available to purchase through Council. Price $95
