Aquazone roof renewal

Council will renew a large section of Aquazone's roof in late 2026.

Multiple roof inspections found significant long-term and ongoing issues with condensation and water leaking into the building.

The project will involve partially renewing the roof and insulation across the dry areas of the AquaZone facility. It will also include sealing the plant room interfaces and renewing the roof stormwater system to improve long-term durability and address the condensation and water ingress issues. Aquazone roof with area shaded to be replaced.

At a time when aquatic facilities in our region are being closed, the Warrnambool City Council is committed to investing in this vital community infrastructure.

It’s also important to note that should we be successful in receiving Victorian Government funding for a redeveloped AquaZone, the work done on the roof won’t be wasted.

The project is valued at about $900,000 and work will be undertaken by local company Bolden Constructions.

What it means for access

While this work takes place we will need to close the AquaZone building, including the indoor pool, gym, changerooms and foyer.

The work is scheduled for late October or early November, and this decision has been made so that the outdoor pool will be open and available. We expect to be able to fully re-open before Christmas.

We will be back in touch later this year with firmer dates, but we wanted to flag this upgrade with you well in advance.

All memberships will be frozen while this work takes place and as an acknowledgement of the inconvenience, members will have free access to the outdoor pool.

TIming

Work will start in late October 2026 and is expected to be completed in the week before Christmas (December 25), 2026,
