Accessible Events

Welcoming Events

People choose to attend events based on how easy they are to access, as well as the quality and diversity of activities available. Ensuring your event is inclusive and accessible increases participation and creates a positive experience for everyone.

People with disability have the right to access public places, including events. Under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), it is unlawful for public spaces and events to be inaccessible.

Over 4 million Australians (approximately 19% of the population) live with a disability. This proportion may increase to around 35% when including temporary disabilities such as injuries, illness, or age-related mobility limitations. Designing accessible events ensures inclusion for a significant portion of the community.
