Over 2000 dancers of all disciplines will take centre stage in Warrnambool in April 2016 with the city announced as the host of the Victorian Dance Festival.
Entering its fourth year, the festival aims to provide access to the highest quality of choreographers and instructors for regional Victorian dancers in an all-inclusive environment.
Victorian Dance Festival Founder and Director Kate Meade said that attendees could expect to learn from some of the best dance teachers from around Australia, including the festival’s Artistic Director Paul Malek and So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Stephen Tannos.
“You can expect a real taste of as many different styles of dance that we can possibly offer with over 18 instructors on hand,” she said.
“Warrnambool is absolutely beautiful. The capital of the Great Ocean Road, the home of Oddball, you can eat, you can shop, you can live in this beautiful town and I think by having the festival here we can really showcase this wonderful region.”
Melissa’s Dance Elements Studio Director, Melissa Dance, said that Warrnambool securing the festival was “absolutely huge”.
“It’s massive. In dance, it’s the biggest thing we’ve had in Warrnambool,” she said.
“There’s a chance to learn from some of the leading choreographers in Australia at the moment, so to have them in our home town will be just amazing.”
