TEDxWarrnambool ticket ballot open

News Article Date:
Friday, 17 January 2020

With demand expected to exceed supply, public tickets to Warrnambool’s TEDx event will be allocated via a ballot.

TEDxWarrnambool will be held on April 3, with entries in the ticket ballot now open.

TED is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to sharing ideas in the form of short, powerful talks.

TEDx events are independently organised TED experiences where speakers have a maximum of 18 minutes to share an idea they believe is worth spreading.

TEDxWarrnambool Organiser Helen Sheedy said that bringing the international recognition of the TEDx brand to Warrnambool was an unprecedented opportunity for the city.

“The eyes of the massive TED community will be on Warrnambool,” she said.

“TEDx rules limit the event to 100 attendees as well as an additional 100 at an official live streaming site.

“This is our chance to share stories that mean something to us, and have the potential to change the lives of people around the world.

“TED and TEDx talks are among the most popular content on social media. The TEDx Youtube channel currently has more than 22 million subscribers.

“For comparison, Google, the company that owns YouTube, only has 8 million subscribers. The official YouTube channel of The White House has 1.2 million subscribers.

“Watching TEDx videos on YouTube is one thing, but to be able to watch a live presenter and share that experience with your fellow audience members will be a truly special experience.”

All applications to attend the TEDxWarrnambool event will be placed into a ballot.

Names will be drawn on February 10 and the successful applicants will be notified within 48 hours of the draw.

Successful applicants will then have until February 21 to purchase their tickets.

To enter the ballot visit www.tedxwarrnambool.com.

Speakers will be annoucned on TEDxWarrnambool Facebook page over the next few weeks.
