Roll up for Circus Oz

Circus Oz returns to Warrnambool this week for the world premiere of its raucous new show “TwentySixteen”.

Australia’s best circus will perform at the Lighthouse Theatre on Friday and Saturday night at 7.30pm as well as a matinee at 1.30pm on Saturday.

TwentySixteen is a refreshing cocktail of new and old, innovation and tradition.

The turbo-charged acrobats will demonstrate their skill and wizardry on the flying trapeze, the Chinese pole and unicycle adagio.

A brand new group juggling act is sure to drop jaws as 21 clubs duck and weave from acrobat to acrobat.

And fabulous comic geniuses will be back in action, splitting sides from start to finish.

Guest Show Director, Anni Davey, explained that her inspiration comes directly from the circus artform itself.

“The circus exists in everyone’s imagination and for some people that imaginary space is their real world,” she said.

“In the circus there is no editing, no replay button, no seven-second delay, no CGI, no sequencing, no sampling, no trickery – it is just really great tricks.

“The circus is real people doing extraordinary stuff.

“It’s inspiring to watch because it pushes people to question what is possible.”

Lighthouse Theatre Manager Michael Frawley is excited to offer a show that is guaranteed to be a great outing for the whole family.

“Circus Oz always pushes the boundaries of theatrical circus,” he said.

“With a professional, high energy cast this promises to be an experience like no other.

“I’d invite everyone to be among the first people in the world to be amazed by this brand new show from Circus Oz.”
