Register to attend the Council meeting

News Article Date:
Monday, 22 February 2021

The Warrnambool City Council meeting scheduled for March 1, 2021, will be open to the public.

It will be the first Council meeting to have a public gallery since March 2020.

“We’re really pleased to be welcoming people back to the Council meetings,” Mayor Cr Vicki Jellie said.

“The pandemic disrupted many activities and having meetings with the public in attendance was one of them.

“We’ll hold the March meeting in the Lighthouse Theatre Studio.

“It’s a bigger space than the meeting chamber at the Civic Centre and by having the meeting at the Lighthouse Theatre we we can confidently accommodate a larger number of people in a COVID-safe way.

“We do ask that those who want to attend must first register which will help ensure we comply with the Department of Health requirements.

“Registering is an easy process that can be done online at www.trybooking.com/BOPEK

“For those who don’t have internet access Council staff can make a booking on your behalf, just call 5559 4800.

For those unable to attend but who wish to watch proceedings the meeting will be livestreamed.

“We had a positive response to the livestreaming of Council meetings during lockdown and we’ll continue to provide that as an option for those who cannot get to meetings,” Cr Jellie said.

The livesteam can be viewed through Council’s website at www.warrnambool.vic.gov.au/council-meeting

“There are also audio recordings made of each meeting,” Cr Jellie said.

“These are available on Council’s website so people can listen to Council debates and discussion at any time.”
