The surface of Pertobe Rd will be rehabilitated in time for the busy traffic volumes over the summer holiday period.
Work started this week on repairing the road surface.
Warrnambool City Council Manager Infrastructure Services Glenn Reddick said the $370,000 project was expected to be completed by mid to late November, depending on weather conditions.
“We’ll be working on short sections of the road at a time,” Mr Reddick said.
“This will allow us to keep the road open to traffic at all times under managed conditions.”
Pertobe Rd is particularly busy over summer, providing access to Lake Pertobe and its playgrounds, the beach, breakwater, other visitor attractions and accommodation.
“With sandy foundations and a high water table Pertobe Rd has long presented a challenge from a maintenance point of view but we are working to have it ready for the summer influx,” Mr Reddick said.
