Lighthouse Theatre launches 2015 season

News Article Date:

Top productions in music, comedy, dance and drama have been chosen to come to Warrnambool in 2015 as part of the Lighthouse Theatre’s Lights Up theatre season, which was launched on December 3.

As well as being among the first to see the exciting 2015 line-up, guests were treated to previews of three upcoming shows.

The delightful Bethany Simons performed a number from her award-winning show Reception: The Musical. The show is coming off the back of a sell-out season at the Melbourne Fringe Festival where it scooped the award for Best Cabaret.

The Lighthouse Theatre team’s favourite comedian, Damian Callinan, regaled attendees with the hilarious half-time speech from his comedy The Merger. The Barry Award nominated production is currently in the early stages of being transformed into a feature film.

And one of south-west Victoria’s favourite sons, Shane Howard, gave the audience a taste of his new album Deeper South.

Lighthouse Theatre Manager Greg Diamantis said that the three performers where a great example of the variety of acts coming to Warrnambool in 2015.

“I am very excited about the diverse program and the high quality of productions we have in store for 2015,” Mr Diamantis said.

“Each show in the Lights Up season has been carefully selected from an array of performers on offer.

“I’d like to thank Bethany, Damian and Shane for their time, which speaks to the relationships the Lighthouse Theatre has built with our performers over a number of years.

“From international star of stage and screen Miriam Margolyes, to the high-energy urban circus 360 ALLSTARS, to the Australian Chamber Orchestra, there really is something for everyone to enjoy at the Lighthouse Theatre.”

The Lights Up theatre season is made possible by principle sponsor Deakin University, production partners ABC Radio, Taits Legal and Star Printing and media partner The Standard.
