People who enjoy combining green ideas and green thumbs are invited to attend the Rotten Day Out sustainable gardening expo on Saturday November 15.
The Warrnambool Community Garden is hosting the event with the aim of educating the community about composting, recycling and reducing food waste with free workshops and tours.
Attendees can learn about hot and cold composting, worm farming, worm toilets, wicked weed tea, urban backyard composting, chook care and integrating a bokashi bin into a composting practice.
Despite the name, Warrnambool City Council Waste Management/Minimisation Officer Kate McInnes said that the day will be anything but rotten.
“The Warrnambool Community Garden members will be on hand with a myriad of handy hints and tips about improving your garden in an environmentally friendly way,” Ms McInnes said.
“Kylie Treble from The Place of Wonder shared garden and blog will also be at the expo. If she can’t get you excited about sustainable gardening, then no-one can!”
The Rotten Day Out kicks off at 10am at the Warrnambool Community Garden on the corner of Grieve St and Grafton Rd (near the racecourse).
Entry is via a gold coin contribution to the Warrnambool Community Garden, with tours and workshops free to participate in.
