Thousands of garage sales will be held around Australia on Saturday October 25 as part of the Garage Sale Trail.

Check out the full list of Warrnambool sales.

Since 2010 the Garage Sale Trail has been a journey of environmental sustainability, creativity and fun.

Now it’s making its way to Warrnambool with registrations now open.

Sales can be held by individuals, groups or organisations.

Buyers can view the full interactive map of Warrnambool garage sales online and plan their route for the day – their Garage Sale Trail.

Warrnambool City Council Mayor Michael Neoh said that reusing an item was one of the best forms of recycling.

“Garage sales have always been a great way of finding new owners for items that would have otherwise ended up in landfill,” Cr Neoh said.

“Having lots of garage sales on the one day will benefit buyers, sellers and the environment. It’s a win-win-win situation.

“It’s also a nice way to meet your neighbours and build the local community.”

Last year 322,000 people visited over 7000 garage sales in 112 local government areas around Australia.

About 1.5 million items were listed for sale with approximately 56,000 shopping trolleys of items finding new homes.

33 per cent of sellers pledged some or all of their earnings to charity.

You can register your garage sale at or by filling in a form at the Warrnambool City Council Civic Centre at 25 Liebig Street.

Council is also seeking to commission an artist to create a work out of material picked up during a recent beach clean to promote the "reuse and recycle" message. See the expression of interest form above for more details.
