Warrnambool Art Gallery (WAG) Director John Cunningham will oversee his final two events this week before he takes up the position as Director of the McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery.

Dr Bruce Vinall will officially launch his monograph Hymns to Creation on Thursday night while Prof Helmut Lueckenhausen will host a floor talk on his popular Memory Palace furniture design exhibition on Saturday afternoon.

In 2013, the WAG exhibited a survey show of the work of Dr Vinall Hymns of

Spanning three decades of art production, the show offered us a moment to reflect on the concepts and techniques that have occupied Dr Vinall's practise over that time.

The WAG is delighted to now present a compendium which expands on this exhibition and provides valuable insights into the artist’s studio, his life, and his mind.

The Memory Palace is the first major survey exhibition of the work of Prof Helmut Lueckenhausen and is currently on display at the WAG.

A leading exponent in the field of studio furniture and design for wood, Prof Lueckenhausen has maintained a regular national and international lecture program, including forum, conference and workshop presentations.

“Both these wonderful events will be rather bittersweet for me as they mark my last public functions as WAG Director,” Mr Cunningham said.

“On Wednesday May 20 I will take my leave of the WAG to accept the Directorship of the McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery on the Mornington Peninsula.

“Though I may be departing, my four years in Warrnambool have been joyous for my partner Aoife and I and the region will always remain our spiritual Australian home.”
