The search is on to find Warrnambool’s most dedicated, generous and community-minded people.

And once found, let’s reward those people with a nomination for a 2018 Warrnambool Australia Day award.

Nominations for the awards are now open.

Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and the Local Achiever Award.

Chair of the Warrnambool Australia Day advisory committee, Bron Levett, said that Australia Day was a tremendous community event and the perfect opportunity to recognise those who help make Warrnambool so attractive and liveable.

“We know that cites are enriched by the efforts of devoted people who volunteer their time to improve the wellbeing of those around them,” she said.

“There are many passionate, giving people in Warrnambool doing great work without seeking acknowledgement or financial reward.

“But as a community we can recognise them and in doing so inspire others to consider what they can do to enhance their community.

“Nominating someone for an Australia Day award is a simple yet significant way of showing our appreciation.”

As with last year’s awards, residents who do not reside in Warrnambool, yet make a significant contribution to the Warrnambool community, will be eligible for the Local Achiever Award.

“This allows the Warrnambool community to acknowledge those who live in a neighbouring municipality but whose efforts to improve the city of Warrnambool,” Ms Levett said.

Nominations close at 5pm on November 24, 2017.
