2017 Community Development Fund applications now open

News Article Date:
Thursday, 11 May 2017

Applications for 2017 Warrnambool City Council Community Development Grants are now open.

Up to $3000 is available per organisation to assist in the delivery of programs, projects, activities or events within the City of Warrnambool.

Categories include sport and recreation, cultural activities, events and environmental sustainability.

Council will provide up to two dollars for each dollar contributed by successful applicants.

Warrnambool City Council Recreation Planner Kyme Rowe said that the aim of the Community Development Fund is to improve the quality of, and access to, recreation and cultural opportunities in Warrnambool.

“Warrnambool is home to many fantastic clubs and organisations that improve the liveability of the city,” she said.

“This fund can help with minor infrastructure upgrades, the purchase of essential equipment or the development of new programs.”

56 people representing a range of local clubs and community organisations attended the “Speed Date Your Grant Specialist” event on May 10.

This saw representatives of Council, South West Sport and various philanthropic trusts spend time one-on-one with attendees to address individual queries about grant application processes and selection criteria.

“While it was good to see people at the forum who have attended previously, for many this was the first time they had sat down with a grant specialist to discuss their club’s funding goals and receive guidance on the best way to move forward.

“I would encourage anyone considering applying for a grant via the Community Development Fund to take their time and read all of the supporting documents to ensure that their application meets the requirements.

“If people didn’t attend the Speed Date Your Grant Specialist forum, but would like to discuss a grant application, they can contact 5559 4800 and ask to speak to someone in the Recreation, Events or Sustainability teams.”
