Warrnambool City Council is now seeking to appoint an experienced Manager to lead the Visitor Economy (Tourism) Branch in providing strategic direction and advice towards growing new and existing tourism, events and wider visitor economy opportunities for the City of Warrnambool.
Located in the Great Ocean Road region, Warrnambool is a popular tourist and events destination overlooking the deep blue of the Southern Ocean. Warrnambool is one of the fastest growing centres in Regional Victoria - A city of commerce, social, health, education, arts and recreation services, Warrnambool offers a vibrant culture, set in a stunning landscape; with growing business, employment and educational opportunities – A lifestyle city.
A key focus of this position is the management and development of Warrnambool City Council’s Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village Precinct, Events Programme, Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre, and Holiday Parks.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge, experience and proven success in a similar senior strategic tourism (and/or wider visitor economy) role. A demonstrated high level of commercial acumen, innovation and entrepreneurial flair and well developed communication and interpersonal skills is essential.
Previous experience in dealing with diverse stakeholders’ such as councillors, media and the tourism industry is highly desirable.
