Council, Parks Victoria target dogs on beach
Warrnambool City Council and Parks Victoria have stepped up beach patrols and will prosecute dog owners in an effort to save the last remaining fairy penguins and shearwaters on Stingray Bay (Merri Marine Sanctuary) and Middle Island.
Phillip Island experts join fight to save penguins
An intensified fox-control program will be carried out over the next three weeks after fox control experts from Phillip Island and Melbourne met with Warrnambool City Council to stop further attacks on penguins and other bird life on Middle Island.

Warrnambool City Council’s Migrant Resettlement Project has taken out the overall 2004 National Award for Excellence at National Awards for Local Government, the highest award in Australia for a council.
