Detox Your Home on February 28

February 28 is the day to Detox Your Home.

Warrnambool residents can safely dispose of unwanted common household chemicals through the Detox Your Home program.

It's a great opportunity to do the right thing for your loved ones and your environment .

It’s easy and it’s free.

The Detox Your Home collection point will be the Warrnambool Saleyards in Caramut Rd on Saturday, February 28, 8am to 4pm.

Items accepted include acids and alkalis, aerosols, anti-freeze, brake fluid, car body filler, car wax, ammonia-based cleaners, cooking oil, coolant, detergents, disinfectants and drain cleaners, fertiliser, fire extinguishers, floor-care products and waxes, fuels – petrol, diesel, kerosene, glues, herbicides and weed killers, insect spray and pesticides, nail polish and remover, oven cleaner, paint stripper, thinner and turps, pool chemicals, rat poison, solvents, transmission fluid and wood preservatives and finishes (oils and varnish).

Items not accepted include batteries – car and household varieties, ammunition or firearms, asbestos, chemicals used by businesses, farm chemicals, gas bottles and motor oil.

The Detox Your Home program is administered by Sustainability Victoria in partnership with Warrnambool City Council.
