News Article Date:

Following community workshops, submissions, comments and feedback the draft Liebig Streetscape Plan has been prepared.

Outlines Landscape Architecture, inspired by the collective thoughts of the community on how to help reinvigorate Warrnambool’s retail heart, has submitted detailed designs for the community to review.

Warrnambool City Council’s Manager City Renewal Tanya Egan said it was an exciting milestone in the project that will see the stretch of Liebig Street between Raglan Parade and Koroit Street transformed into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly commercial space.

“All those in the community with an interest in the future of the city centre are encouraged to view the plans and provide feedback,” Ms Egan said.

The draft plans will be displayed at a reopened Liebig Streetscape Plan pop-up shop, operated by the Council’s City Renewal team, at 141 Liebig Street (the former ANZ Bank).

“The shop will be open to the public on September 3,” Ms Egan said.

“It will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from September 3 to September 20 and also on Saturday mornings over those three weeks.”

People will be able to provide feedback on the plan via a number of ways.

“We will have a feedback form which can be filled out in the shop, people can provide verbal feedback, jot down some notes or fill out a form electronically,” Ms Egan said.

People will have until September 22 to make a submission on the draft plan.

A final Liebig Streetscape Plan will then be developed based on the community feedback before being presented to Council for a decision at the October 6 council meeting.
