Business Workshops

The Victorian Government's Small Business Workshop and Seminar Program offers a range of low cost workshops and seminars on a range of small business management topics. There are workshops and seminars for all levels of business, from start-ups to established businesses. The workshops and seminars are hosted by Warrnambool City Council’s Economic Development Unit and delivered by one of Small Business Victoria’s certified workshop facilitators.

In 2018 the Warrnambool City Council is offering a diverse range of affordable and topical workshops for the business community to take part in; a listing of what is available can be seen below.

2018 Workshop Listings

All workshops start at 6.00pm @ Quest Warrnambool, 15-19 Liebig Street unless otherwise stated.

1. Starting Your Business – February 21
Prepare to get your bright idea off the ground, step by step, at this essential planning workshop packed with vital start-up tips, tools and expert guidance that will prepare you to give your business the best chance of success. Come to grips with everything you need to know before you get started and walk away prepared with a clear vision of the next steps needed to turn your idea into business reality. Cost: $30.

2. Business Planning Essentials – March 14
Put your business on the path to long term success at this essential workshop that will take you, step by step, through the vital process of building a business plan to drive your business forward. Learn how to map out a plan that will show where your business is at right now, where you’d like to be in future and, most importantly, help you develop a clear vision of the next steps and strategies that will take you there. Cost: $20.

3. Marketing Your Business – April 18
An effective marketing strategy should boost your brand, capture customers, keep them coming back, and ultimately save you time and money. Find out why just a website and a Facebook page is not going to cut it at this back-to-basics workshop that will show you how to develop a marketing action plan to keep your effort and resources focused in the right areas. Cost: $20.

4. Taking Your Business Online – May 17
Get yourself ready to launch your business online at this essential digital workshop that goes right back to basics to build a complete picture of the opportunities ahead. Learn how to make informed choices about websites and social media, get across search engines and online advertising, size up the benefits each offers your business and know where to access the right tools to begin. Cost $20.

5. Creating Effective Digital Content – June 13
In the digital world, content is king! Make sure yours is working for your business, your brand and speaking to the customers you want to reach. Find out how to ensure the way you communicate with your customers online, whether by website, blog or social media, is not only compelling but also aligned to your business goals at this essential small business workshop. Cost $20.

6. Facebook and Your Business – July 18
Social media is everywhere! Learn the basics of Facebook marketing success and equip yourself to extract the best of this powerful online marketing tool that few small businesses can afford to ignore. Cost: $20.

7. Commercialising Your New Idea - August 15th 1pm-4pm and August  16th 1pm-3.30pm
Everything you need to know to take your innovation or idea from drawing board to market launch. Get help to assess feasibility, decide its business potential and develop a clear commercialisation strategy over two inspiring workshops led by an experienced innovation and commercialisation expert. Cost: $75.

8. Advanced Marketing – September 19
It’s not enough to stand apart from your competition. Successful marketing is also about being ready to respond and take advantage of change. If you’ve already got a marketing strategy in place, find out how to ramp up your current activities to work smarter at this essential workshop that will ensure you stay one step ahead. Cost $30.
