Cramer Street playground upgrade

News Article Date:
Monday, 11 July 2016

Warrnambool City Council is upgrading the Albert Park playground along Cramer Street.

The $120,000 project will see the addition of contemporary playground equipment including a spiral slide, climbing net cube with rock climb wall and an all-abilities swing.

"Nearby residents were consulted about the playground upgrade and where possible their feedback was incorporated into the design,” Manager Infrastructure Services Glenn Reddick said.

Surrounding landscaping will feature new granitic paths to connect the playground to existing paths and extensive planting that will include sheoak trees and deciduous trees.

Additional seating will include an accessible picnic setting, a bench seat with back, log seating and boulder seating.

The final design was prepared by Jeavons Landscape Architects.

The State Government through the Department of Health provided $6,000 to help cover the cost of a shelter structure and shade trees.

Work on the playground has started.

Weather permitting the project will be completed by the end of August.
