City centre survey work April 13 and 14

News Article Date:
Tuesday, 12 April 2016

Surveyors will be in the Warrnambool city centre on April 13 and 14.

The contract surveyors will assess the depth beneath the pavement of services including gas, electricity, water and telecommunications.

“This work is part of building a thorough picture of our city centre infrastructure before on-ground work starts towards the end of February next year,” Warrnambool City Council Manager City Renewal Tanya Egan said.

“The surveyors – a team of two - will be using electronic equipment to carry out this work.

“The survey equipment and no excavation work will be required.

“They will leave temporary markings on the pavement as they go about their work which will wash off over time.”

The depth surveying will be carried out in the centre and northern blocks of Liebig Street, which comprise Stage I of the $15 million city centre renewal.

Construction of Stage I will start in late February 2017 and be completed in October 2017.

Stage II of the renewal, Liebig Street between Timor and Koroit streets and Koroit Street between Liebig and Kepler streets, is scheduled to start in late February 2018 and finish in October 2018.
