News Article Date:

Warrnambool’s maremma guardian puppy is one step away from a new name.

Following more than 700 suggestions from the public, a shortlist of 10 names has been selected.

The community can now vote for their favourite name, with the most popular moniker to be adopted by the pup.

Warrnambool City Council Tourism Services Manager Peter Abbott said that the competition had captured the imagination of people from around the world.

“We’ve had hundreds of great suggestions not only from Australia, but from people in the UK, Italy and New Zealand, which shows the reach of Oddball and the maremma program,” he said.

“The puppy’s training is progressing well and he is definitely ready for his new name.

“Head to the Warrnambool Penguins website to vote for your favourite name and learn more about this truly unique project.”

Voting will close on Thursday March 31.
