Second only to Boxing Day, the March influx of tourists to Warrnambool sees thousands of families pay a visit to our beautiful seaside city.

While the delights of our natural environment, great accommodation options and tourist attractions draw people to Warrnambool all year round, a number of major events in March will bring in people from all around Victoria and Australia.

For the third year running, the Victorian Junior Surf Life Saving Championships will be held in Warrnambool, with at least 1500 families set to attend the two-day carnival over the Labour Day long weekend.

The popular Sufferfest Triathlon has been expanded and renamed the Warrnambool Sufferfest Multisport Festival to better encapsulate the diversity of events on offer. Held from March 19-20, it includes running and triathlon events to suit all age groups and abilities.

Everyone now has the opportunity to enjoy the warm sense of pride that only comes from completing a physical challenge such as this.

The Shipwreck Coast Fishing Classic will see anglers take to the region’s rivers and the ocean from March 12-19. Daily weigh-ins will be held at the breakwater at 7pm, with competitors also having the option to catch and release fish.

All three events showcase the region’s beautiful natural environment and encourage people to get out and get active.

Major volleyball, tennis and dog obedience events will also be held.
