Major skate, BMX and scooter competition this weekend

Local skateboard, scooter and BMX riders will have the opportunity to show what they can do at Warrnambool’s biggest annual tournament.

The Warrnambool leg of the South West Regional Skate Series will be held on Saturday February 6 at the Warrnambool Skate Park on Viaduct Road.

Warrnambool City Council Youth Planner Ken Radley said that the Warrnambool heat was one of the most popular in the series.

“Each year, the turnout for this event is terrific and it’s great to see so many talented youngsters showing off their skills,” he said.

“In Warrnambool, we have an excellent skate park which makes it an ideal host venue for a Skate Park League regional heat as well as a perfect training venue for locals.

“To anyone considering competing, this is your chance to make use of all of those hours practicing your best moves and take your shot at glory… and prizes!”

Competitions include 14 & Under and 15 & Over Scooter, 14 & Under and 15 & Over BMX, 12 & Under, 16 & Under, Open Male and Open Female Skate.

The scooter competition will begin at 10.30am, the BMX at noon and the skate competition at 1.30pm.

Entry is free and entrants can register on the day.
