New banners for Warrnambool's youth

News Article Date:
Friday, 13 November 2015

Two new promotional banners featuring artwork by SouthWest TAFE’s VCAL Foundation students were unveiled on November 13.

The students worked on the designs for four weeks as part of their studies with assistance from local artist Jessica Meggs.

Ms Meggs was recently involved in the Patloch Lane renewal, painting a sea-themed mural at the western end of the lane.

The various artworks were combined and refined to create two pull-up banners to be used to promote Warrnambool City Council youth services events and activities in the future.

Warrnambool City Council Youth Development Planner Ken Radley thanked Ms Meggs and the students for their efforts.

“To have an artist of Jessica’s ability work with the students was fantastic. They really got a lot out of it,” he said.

“For the students, to see what were only ideas a few weeks ago printed two metres high in full colour will give them a real sense of achievement, which I’m sure will only grow with every event they see their artwork at.”
