AquaZone is diving into National Learn to Swim Week by offering free swimming lessons for children under five years of age.

Learn to Swim Week commences on September 28 with over 300 swim schools around Australia set to take part.

Spearheaded by the Kids Alive campaign of legendary Australian swimming coach, Laurie Lawrence, the week is aimed at educating parents on the importance of teaching kids aged under five to swim.

AquaZone manager Ray Smith said he and his team were excited to be involved in this great initiative.

“Warrnambool is home to some beautiful natural waterways and beaches as well as the facilities here at AquaZone,” he said.

“Having an abundance of great swimming locations makes it even more important to ensure our children are equipped to enjoy them safely.

“Introducing your child to the water at a young age not only builds their confidence and ability in the water, the health benefits that go with regular swimming are significant.”

According to Kids Alive, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death worldwide for children under five years of age.

In Australia, one person on average drowns every week.
