News Article Date:
Tuesday, 15 September 2015

Anyone with an interest in skateboarding is encouraged to roll up to the Warrnambool Skate Park on Sunday for a skills workshop.

Come Skateboarding Warrnambool will be presented by former international skateboarder Richard Flude and Rachel Delphin from Ownlife.

This free session caters for all ages and experience levels with skateboards and helmets provided.

Workshops run from 10am until 3.30pm with a best trick competition to follow.

Warrnambool City Council Youth Planner Ken Radley said that this was a great way to kick-start the school holidays.

“Whether you’ve never been or you go as often as you can, the skate park is a great place to spend the school holidays,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter if you are already a great skater and you are looking to sharpen your skills or you have never ridden a board before, this workshop is for you.

“While you probably won’t be landing the 900 by the end of the day, Richard and Rachel will be able to provide you with great tips on how to become a better skater.”

Come Skate Warrnambool is supported by the Warrnambool City Council, Brophy, Kulcha Shift and the Victorian Government.

Ownlife’s aim is to create highly captivating experiences for young people through fun, participation-focused workshops, creative competitions, and interactive demonstrations.

In the event of bad weather, the session will be held at Merrivale Primary School.
