Funding shot for local clubs

News Article Date:
Friday, 3 July 2015

Warrnambool clubs looking to score extra funding are encouraged to apply for a grant through the Warrnambool City Council’s Community Development Fund.

The fund assists local clubs and organisations in the provision of programs, projects, activities or events within the City of Warrnambool, with grants of up to $3000 available.

Grants are available in sport and recreation, cultural, events and environmental sustainability categories.

Council will provide two dollars for each dollar contributed by the successful applicant.

Warrnambool City Council Recreation Planner Kyme Rowe said that local clubs play a very important role in improving the health and wellbeing of the community.

“The positive health, social and environmental impact that Warrnambool’s fantastic clubs have on our city is truly outstanding,” she said.

“The grants are aimed at helping these clubs improve the community benefit they are already providing as well as deliver better opportunities for more members of the community to get involved.”

Changes to the application process in 2015 will make it even easier for clubs to make a submission.

“The new system responds to feedback received from last year’s program and aims to reduce the administration time associated with application completion, assessment and notification,” Ms Rowe said.

“Applicants are now able to save, edit, print and retain a copy of their completed application.

“Council officers can also better monitor the level of activity during the application period.”

Applications close at 5pm on Friday July 31.
