Warrnambool Housing Diversity Strategy

The Warrnambool City-Wide Housing Strategy 2013 highlighted the need to identify opportunities to direct population growth into established urban areas. The strategy notes that redirecting growth would assist in increasing the City’s land supply and would result in significant ongoing savings in infrastructure and service provision.

Council has commenced the preparation of a Housing Diversity Strategy to explore opportunities to ensure housing growth in established areas occurs in the right way and in appropriate locations.

It is anticipated that the Housing Diversity Strategy will identify opportunities to increase housing diversity in close proximity to public transport infrastructure and open space. The strategy will identify infrastructure projects (e.g. footpath improvements) that may be required to support increased population growth and diversification of housing in key locations.
