More recycling, better signage

Correctly disposing of waste when on the go has been made easier in Warrnambool thanks to new bins and clearer signage.

The Warrnambool City Council, with support from the Waste Reduction Group and the State Government, has added more recycling bins in popular public places, such as Lake Pertobe.

On top of this, ten of the CBD’s most used bins have been upgraded to separate rubbish from recycling.

All of the signage on recycling bins has been revamped to provide clearer and current messaging on what can and cannot be recycled.

Warrnambool City Council Waste Minimisation Officer Kate McInnes said that most citizens and visitors are keen to do the right thing.

“Warrnambool residents generally do a good job with their home recycling,” she said.

“The new bins and signage make it as easy as possible for everyone to take their good recycling habits with them when they are out enjoying our beautiful city.

“We have had recycling bins in place in various areas for a few years now, so it’s great to be able to install even more.”
