Biggest workout in the world on Civic Green

News Article Date:
Thursday, 12 January 2017

Warrnambool fitness fans will join an expected one million people taking part in the World’s Biggest Workout on January 14.

The worldwide event is to celebrate the 100th release for Body Pump, a popular exercise program by New Zealand fitness company Les Mills.

The Warrnambool session will be held at the Civic Green at 11am as part of a fitness expo, showcasing a range of exercise classes which cater for all fitness levels.

AquaZone fitness instructors will be running the workouts.

AquaZone Manager Ray Smith said that he hoped the scale and the fun nature of the event would encourage people to give Body Pump a go.

“Everyone likes to be involved in something that’s bigger than themselves, and with one million people all taking the same class on the same day, there’s a real global connection,” he said.

“January is a time when gym memberships tend to increase, so this expo is a great way for people to learn more about the options available to them.

“Group fitness classes such as Les Mills are a fun way to improve your strength, flexibility and fitness.

“AquaZone has the largest group fitness timetable in south-west Victoria with over 60 sessions each week.”

Entry to the expo is a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to the Leila Rose Foundation.

The Leila Rose Foundation is currently supporting 54 families from around Australia that have a child diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer.

The fitness expo is supported by Dale Cleves Music.

Other sessions running as part of the expo include:

8.00 – 8.30am: Body Balance (yoga and pilates fusion class)
8.45 – 9.15am: CxWorx (abdominal and gluteal resistance class)
9.30 – 10.00am: Body Combat (martial arts class)
10.15 – 10.45am: Body Step (step aerobics class)
