Be inspired at conference for women

Warrnambool is hosting a conference for women next month which explores the themes of resilience, strength and empowerment.

The Australian Local Government Women’s Association Victorian Conference, held over October 13 to 15, will feature philanthropist, businesswoman and past vice-president of the Western Bulldogs Football Club, Susan Alberti AC.

Joining Ms Alberti is an impressive roster of speakers including Gender and Sexuality Commissioner Ro Allen- Gender, psychologist and founder of Sophrosyne Psychology Sheridan Meublok and Wellmania author and Guardian writer, Brigid Delaney.

“This is a great opportunity to hear some inspirational speakers and their stories,” Warrnambool Mayor Cr Kylie Gaston said.

“Over the three days of the conference, which starts off with a Friday night cocktail evening, attendees will be taking part in discussions around life in local government and professional and personal challenges in general.

“It will be fun and it will be a great learning experience.” 

As part of the conference Cr Gaston, along with Corangamite Shire Mayor Cr Jo Beard, Southern Grampians Shire Mayor Cr Mary-Ann Brown, Mitchell Shire Council Mayor Cr Rhonda Sanderson and City of Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh will chair a panel discussion entitled Journey to Leadership.

The conference will be held over October 13 to 15.
