Gnatannwarr - means "welcome" or "hello" and is the traditional greeting of the Gunditj-mara and Kirrae Whurrong people, the original custodians of the lands around Warrnambool.
The Gnatannwarr Multicultural Festival is an annual celebration of the cultural diversity of the Warrnambool community.
A community, not for profit event, the Gnatannwarr Multicultural Festival involves more than 25 diverse community groups and individuals from Sudan, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, India, Middle East, The Philippines, Ireland, Scotland, Africa and Australia.
It’s an important opportunity for local cultural groups to showcase their food, music and dance, and for other community groups to promote their activities at a community event.
