Smart Living Workshops
The “Smart Living Workshop Series” has been developed to assist Warrnambool residents to reduce their environmental footprint, greenhouse gas emissions and unnecessary costs as a result of unsustainable living. The objects of the workshop series are to:
- Reduce household energy use.
- Reduce waste going to landfill.
- Reduce water use.
- Reduce household greenhouse gas emissions.
- Reduce barriers to community uptake of retrofitting technology and financial assistance in the form of rebates for households.
- Build community capacity and knowledge on sustainable living.
- Assist the community to prepare for a carbon constrained future.
Using a combination of theory and hands on education the “Smart Living Workshop Series” will enable participants to build knowledge and practical skills to implementing sustainable actions in the home.

| Rebates rebates rebates | Thursday 17 February | Information was provided about government rebates to help reduce your environmental footprint, the best rebate for you and how to apply. |
| Solar Hot Water Workshop | Tuesday 12 April | Learn about the benefits of solar hot water, different technologies, efficiencies, pay back periods and much more. |
| Save Energy, Money and the Environment | Thursday 26 May | This theoretical and practical workshop will explain the principles of staying warm in winter and show how to install low cost options to save energy, costs and greenhouse gases. |
| Building an Energy Efficient Home | Wednesday 21 September | Find out how to choose the right block, build a sustainable home and generally save running costs and the environment. |
| Sustainable Gardening – Dirty Weekend (venue to be confirmed) | October – To be confirmed | Learn about how to garden organically, save water, pest plant control, how to compost and what grows well in Warrnambool. |
| Sustainable Transport (venue to be confirmed) | October – To be confirmed | Learn how to maintain your bike, choose the best green car and general information about sustainable transport choices. |
Workshop Registrations
All Smart Living Workshops are free and held at 7.30pm at the Archie Graham Centre – Dinning Room, Timor Street on the above dates. Registrations are essential and will be taken two weeks prior to the event.
