Warrnambool City Council is committed to ensuring that this website is
designed to work for all people, whatever their hardware, software, language, culture, location, or physical or mental ability.
We have designed this site to conform to the relevant W3C guidelines to ensure that it is accessible to people with a diverse range of hearing, movement, sight, and cognitive ability.
NAVIGATION
We have included hidden “Skip Links” to enable users with screen readers to skip directly to various key elements within the site structure quickly and easily. These are hidden from view for most users but can be seen when viewing the site with style sheets disabled.
The Main site Menu can be navigated by using the “Tab” key to move through links one by one.
FONTS
All fonts on the site are relative rather than absolute sizes to ensure that they can be scaled to ensure legibility for all users.
We have included options to view “Large Text” and High Contrast” versions of each pages’ content by clicking on the buttons next to the page title.
LINKS
All Links on the site are text based and contextual so that they can be used and understood by screen readers.
IMAGES
All Images have a text description to ensure that they contain meaningful information for screen readers.
CODE/MARKUP
All pages on the site use structured semantic markup with a logical separation of structure (HTML), presentation (CSS) and Behaviour (Javascript).
STANDARDS COMPLIANCE
The Warrnambool City Council Website aims to comply with Conformance level “Priority 2.0” for Accessibility as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
