What is "Sustain the Bool"?
Sustain the Bool is an exciting community inspired initiative to improve the environment of Warrnambool and aims to create a closer partnership between the Council, community and local businesses. The initiative will deliver environmental actions that encourage sustainable living and will reduce Warrnambool’s carbon footprint.
By being part of Sustain the Bool you will be making Warrnambool an even more clean, green and liveable City for current and future generations.
This unique approach will involve free environmentally focused “Smart Living Workshops”, tree planting events, free information at the Smart Living Library and demonstrations of practical solutions to live more sustainably.
Sustain The Bool: Sustainable Transport Map
The Sustainable Transport Map provides information to visitors and residents to plan their trips and, in doing so, become less reliant on private motor vehicles to move about our city. So take a walk or cycle around our wonderful city.
Tree planting
15,000 native plants will be planted at the Flume, Merri River and Lake Pertobe in 2011. These native plants will help create valuable habitat for native wildlife and help offset carbon emissions. Get your hands dirty and be a part of these community events.
The next big community tree planting day is Nation Tree Day 10am Sunday 31 July 2011 at the Flume.
