3rd AFL International Cup

The third Australian Football International Cup will be staged in Warrnambool and Melbourne in August and September 2008. After 11 nations competed in both 2002 and 2005, the third International Cup is looking to expand and reflect the current growth in International Football over the past decade. Australian Football 150 Year Ambassador Kevin Sheedy and AFL General Manager National and International Development David Matthews made the announcement at Reid Oval in Warrnambool. The event will feature during the Australian Football 150 year celebrations. Matches will be played in Melbourne from Wednesday August 27 with teams in Warrnambool from Sunday August 31 until Thursday September 4. Two rounds of matches will be played in the Albert Park precinct on Reid Oval, Mack Oval and Walter Oval. Further details of the event will be available closer to the event.
