| The Warrnambool Art Gallery is owned and operated by the Warrnambool City Council as a memorial to Sir Fletcher Jones. The gallery program is presented with the assistance of the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria, a division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. | |
| The Collection | | Established in 1886, the Warrnambool Art Gallery offers a diverse collection of artworks, from elegant European salon paintings to the Avant-garde modernism of the Angry Penguins.
Artworks range from the romanticised colonial landscapes of Eugene Von Guerard and Louis Buvelot, to contemporary Australian printmaking by Juan Davila, Barbara Hanrahan and Ray Arnold.
| Exhibitions | | The gallery's three temporary exhibition spaces present a diverse program incorporating leading Australian art practitioners and lessor known artists waiting to be discovered. The gallery continues to attract major exhibitions rarely seen outside of metropolitan areas, while at the same time actively encouraging and supporting Southwest Victorian artists. | |
| The Facility | | Facing Warrnambool's Civic Green, the gallery is housed in an inviting, purpose-built museum that opened in 1986. All exhibition areas are on one level with easy access from the street. Free all-day car parking is available onsite.
The Gallery Shop offers a wide range of greeting cards, books, childrens toys, local and Austalian handmade jewellery, arts and crafts to purchase.
